Can someone tell me what might be causing this or give me some suggestions on how to troubleshoot it:

My lappy (Z71V) has difficulty starting after being off for a FEW HOURS. It usually takes several minutes to start and then the resolution is like 800 x 600 and I get all these "new hardware detected" popups.

Once I get my lappy to start correctly, everything seems to run fine. If I shut down and then try to turn the lappy on again immediately or a few minutes later, it starts up normally. It's only when I wait for a FEW HOURS that the start problem appears.

Does this problem sound like anything familiar? It has me completely puzzled.

I'd almost be tempted to tell you to do a fresh install of windows. Something, which sounds likes a driver or some other software may be giving you these issues. I've only seen it a couple times and never did it end up being hardware...... although one might want to suspect the RAM to start... but that's never been the case. My guess is maybe take a look at the display drivers before you do anything else.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Start of with a harddrive test. If you have a seagate or hitachi their testers are the best. Test the drive using their full test. It should come up with an error code. This also may be a mainboard issue. I doubt this is as simple as a software bug. Seen something similar on an m3n 2 times. Both times result of a mainboard. Call your vendor for support. They "should" help you run the appropriate tests.
