So I have a dilemma with my X1, it has been running pretty crappy as of late. It randomly shuts down, when I game on it the graphics card seems to overheat and shut me down, the wireless constantly disconnects, among a few other small issues such as the light around the touchpad burning out. I see at Best Buy, they have the new G51 out and it doesn't seem half bad except for the processor. Would it be worth it for me to exchange my X1 out for this G51? I'm in between this or going with something more portable and eventually building a desktop. The problem is I'm not sure of how much better the 260m GTX is than the 9800m GS (or how much better it is than the Gateway FX 7805u's 1GB 9800 GTS). I would love some incite on what you guys think, I am stuck with BB laptops though, ASUS cannot be serviced, so in return they are exchanged.

the 260GTX is about 15% faster and it has 75% more shaders than the 9800gs

wait until friday so if u change it u can get the win 7 upgrade free

You seem to have overheating problems. Overheating is usually caused by accumulated dust on the fan blades, and in-between the fan and the radiator (fins). Why don't you try to get the fan cleaned, and see how your temps are faring afterwards?

download HWmonitor and check your gpu or cpu temp, I suggest trying to clean out the bottom of the laptop with compressed air and q-tips. I just cleaned out the bottom of mine today and the gu droped 10 degrees c. Check your temps after this again. If your temps are not much better make sure your fan is working properly, and that it ramps up under load.

If your going to take it back wait till friday to get the w7 update free :p
