My a8jm has an annoying/weird problem with vista media center. Each time I restart, come out of stand by, of hibernation, change display (between the lcd and the laptop display), vista media center opens 2-3 times and its just annoying! ( i did look in the media center settings and unchecked everything byut didnt help.)
And i cant find media center in the add/remove program (wtv it is called in vista)...so is there a way to uninstall or disable it... otherwise i guess ill just delete c:/windows/ehome.......actually ill try to find a way to delete this because windows restrict me since i dont have admin privilege since i cant disable user control because i get a blue screen with "pointer reference" error when i do so...

Go back to the add/remove program area, and this time go to the windows component part (from side panel). Then see if it is there.

    I had the same problem.

    Here is what you do:
    run msconfig
under the startup tab, uncheck "dmedia" and restart

That should solve the problem. It will make the media center button on the computer not work, but I think its worth it. It would be nice if Asus would fix this software bug.

thats why vista came with so many versions dont like the media center? go basic or business.

anyways, i helped you look, seems to be a 'feature' with vista. download vista manager http://www.yamicsoft.com/vistamanager/index.html
under optimzer>multimedia>disable media center to be run.

Windows Media Center works great on my F3SA-A1. I can press a button on the bezel and switch back and forth between WMC and my desktop with no problems. I am sure it takes a bit of hard drive space, but with 160GB drives, who really cares about hard drive space anymore...
