    So here's the story..

My ASUS UL20A fell off my table in class the other day, and it resulted in a dent and chip on the bottom left corner.

I contacted ASUS support for accidental warranty, and they told me I didn't register it. When they first told me this, I was like ? Because I specifically remember registering my laptop on their site. But low and behold, there was a catch.

Apparently there is a second registration process for the accidental warranty and I only registered for the normal warranty. When I found this out, I went ? a second time because when I purchased the laptop at an authorized retailer (Anitec.ca) they did not mention this process. They only told me to register it ASAP for the one year accidental warranty, and they did not mention sending in any accidental warranty registration card or receipt. I was under the impression that that meant I only had to register it normally online, which I did.

I explained this to the ASUS support representatives that I have been contacting through email, but I guess they're not too sympathetic that this was an honest mistake due to a misinterpretation of information.

I'm quite disappointed. I bought an ASUS laptop because of the build quality and the customer service that I heard so much about. Those were the main reasons I strayed away from other competitors and their notebooks such as Acer and their Timeline series.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should do now? I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else before I call in and see what happens because obviously, emailing has yet to yield anything.

    Thanks

You can escalate within Asus but failing to register the adw coverage is most likely going to preclude getting it fixed for free. I would personally just live with it. It's working. Be happy the damage was only cosmetic and move on.

    Cheers,

Yeah, it's frustrating when you don't read all the information about a new product, and realize too late that you should have...
