I just got my w3v a dead pixel that shines green in the middle I wonder why they even ship out defective products.
Anyways besides that I love the notebook. I was just wondering about all these applications that come standard.
Intel Proset Wireless
High performance
Sound Effect
Wireless console
Asus Live Update
do I need all these? which ones should I get rid of or replace.
And also for the video ram properties it says 64 mb its supose to have another 64 shared I was just wondering if its a setting and should it say 128mb, should I upgrade to a different driver?

you don't need intel's proset console... if you're using windows to configure your wireless... but you do need the drivers.
"high performance" is really asus' powergear... i suggest you keep that.
the rest you can close out. -
Are you sure it's a dead pixel? Try to wipe the screen, dust sometimes appear as if they're a dead pixel...
Anyhow, none of those softwares are needed for proper functioning of the W3V. -
I am not sure if I am using the right terminology, but the pixel shines green, it can be easily seen when loading up XP when its black, or when I set my background to blue to something. I dont see it when the background is white. it just looks messed up to me.

Sounds like it is a pixel that is stuck rather than a dead pixel. Sometimes it will fix itself after a while....some say that 'massaging' it could fix it
-
Ahh thanks for the correction redrage, I hope it goes away.

stuck pixels usually do come and go and you're right, sometimes you could "massage" them.

My sister actually had an asus m5, and it came with a bright dot (not a dead pixel) and I think it was after 4 months and magically it disappeared... So weird.

While massaging talk dirty to it. Use abrasive words like you dirty dell or you fat compaq.

I just recivced my W3v and I was wondering which apps can we disable from
start up or which ones do we really need?

sorry but how do you delete these programs?
-
Try going into Control Panel and click "Add or Remove Programs". Then click on the stuff that you want to uninstall.
Do I need these Stock W3V apps
