Hi I got this bright green pixel in the middle of my w3v and people keep telling me that it will go away. The notebook is brand new and seeing a bright pixel right out of the box doesnt say much for the manufacturer. It would be a different story if one appeared after using the notebook for a couple years but straight out of the box? I have owned 5 notebooks from sony, ibm, dell, compaq and none of these monitors had bright pixel problem. I am wondering if anyone has had their bright pixel go away after a while? It just annoys me that such a nice computer can be plaqued by 1 stupid pixel. I hope it goes away

Actually it doesnt say much about the manufacturer since they dont actually make the lcd panels. not to mention if you are going to get one it will happen when you get it not later, ive never seen that happen. it can also happen during transport. so it maybe have been fine at the factory. my compaq has one bight pixel and they dont normaly go away. asus cant make sure no pcs have a dead pixel. But i understand how you are annoyed. I never cared my compaq had one only because its light red. so its not very noticable. Green is brighter though. My asus Z63a comes monday lets hope i dont have one also :)

Why stress out and hope it would go away? Just exchange it for another unit or RMA it. If I were you, I’d talk your dealer ASAP. I bet you won’t have any problems exchanging it.

I went (or wanted) to buy my W3V today. The shop had 2 in stock, and both had bright pixels in the panel (one white and one blue)
I asked if it's true that it would go away after some time, but the guy didn't know.
So I told him to get me one without dead/bright pixels, then he can have my money. lol

I've heard that if you rub the area with the bright pixel GENTLY, it MIGHT go away... but if it doesn't go away after 5-7 seconds of gentle rubbing, then it's a lost cause.

My M6Ne has 2 bright pixels... I don't really notice them anymore. It's just bad luck...but oh well.
If it really does bother you, you could try getting it exchanged.

they won't go away unless you could physically disturb the crystal... like auroas said, try rubbing it. if it won't go away, i'll likely NEVER go away unless you damage your LCD.

Yep, bright pixels hardly ever go away. Massaging the pixel works sometimes, but most of the time, if you have a bright pixel, it is there for the life of the notebook.

But, like you said..... "hardly" & "sometimes" ... dead pixels *never* come back to life though...

I have a old gateway p3 500 that I bought new with one stuck pix, I was able to GENTLY rub it out. Just becareful I really don't want to buy someones messed up machine because they took my advice and rubbed themselves into destroying their screen!

A lot of resellers check laptop screens for dead/bright pixels before shipping.

I was wondering, are resellers allowed to check for dead pixels on the Asus ensemble models or are those models shipped directly from Asus to the buyer?

In my case, the notebooks came directly from the distributor, who gets them from Asus Taiwan.
Not one party has checked the notebooks for dead/bright pixels. (asus, distributor, retailer)
It's a good thing I asked them to turn the thing on, otherwhise I'd be stuck with this crap.

Retailers are allowed to check for dead pixels, but there is a limit on how many times they do this. If the retailer has to send the notebook back each time there is a dead pixel, it gets too expensive for them.

In the US we've been limited as far as what we can do now compared to say 6 months ago. We used to check every unit (custom and ensemble) for dead pixels. Now we can't do the ensembles because they *have* to go to the customer with the factory seal from taiwan. If there is a problem, Asus says they will take care of it. However, their pixel policy, which has always been great is starting to get enforced even more. Becasue their policy just got better (basically 3 bad pixels and you get a new screen for the 2-3 year life of the warranty; or if you have just 2 right next to each other)

So the way Asus puts it, one pixel is ok because that's better than anyone else will do. We only see even one bad pixel in any form once in maybe 1000 units....... so their record is pretty good... but they've limited how they take care of this stuff and like people have said.... bad pixels come from basically the first few minutes your screen is on... so of course it's going to be *new* when it happens. It certainly doesn't mean their company is crap or has low standards, Asus probably has one of the best, if not the best standard pixel policy which is good throughout the life of the warranty.... you really can't beat it.

I had a dream last night about my Asus w3v. I've had alot of those ever since I decided she was the one for me :p. I opened the notebook, saw a big green dead pixel, grabbed a cloth and rubbed it away :p

    Your welcome. :)
