"Do nothing" when closing lid doesn't save. It always goes back to sleep mode on closing the lid.

I've got this brand new Asus X501A and some features are not working right.

One of them is that it won't save the power option "Do Nothing on lid closing". I choose it, I save it and still it will go back to default option of putting the laptop to sleep.

    Anyone?

    Thanks

Sounds like a Windows hiccup. Try making a new Windows user account with Admin privileges, and attempt to save that setting again under the new account.

    I'll try that, thanks.

But it seems to be a very common problem in all Asus, such as in this thread Power4Gear Hybrid keeps resetting itself to 100% minimum processor state

Did you check you are in an identical power state when on battery and AC as the settings are different for each plan.

    Yes I did.

I uninstalled Power4Gear and the problem persists.

Actually, other things in Windows go back to deafult settings too. For example the bloody "show charms bar when passing the finger by the right edge of the touchpad". I disable it constantly and still comes back once and again.

It's full of mistakes and defects this laptop. Terrible quality control. I still like it very much for the price, but it is the most annoying computer I have ever had. Only Asus to blame.

I've been noticing you've been met with headaches with it. Hopefully you can get to a state with it that works for you more than not. :)

I too had the same issue with my S46-CM. There was a lot of talk in another thread about Smart Gesture being the culprit for sleep profile and processor maximum states being reset. I notice in the software section they just recently updated Smart Gesture for my computer. After installing the update, the issue has been resolved. Maybe try the same for yours if there is an update?
