I am thinking of picking one of these up:

The rebate makes it pretty tempting, and I just want to make sure that the USB ports on the Z63A have enough power to spare for this, since it draws power through the USB cable instead of having a bulky adapter come seperately.

I think it should. I know the usb port on my old laptop (ibm thinkpad t30) was not powerful enough to power my 120 gb external 3.5 hd. But since yours is smaller in size and capacity, the usb port should be able to power it.

I have other 2.5" external HDDs that are powered by the USB port on my W3A. They are only 4200 rpm models, but I would be surprised if the WD model won't run with the W3. On one occasion I have run two separate external HDDS at the same time, powered from different ports, so the power supply must be quite good.

Cool.
I figured that since the motherboard on the laptop is fairly recent/up-to-date, the USB ports should be able to handle the power requirements, but I wanted to make espcially sure since this will be an online order. -
I am using an external 2.5" enclosure with my W3V it works fine. But mine comes with a dual USB plug cable that can take power from 2 ports if one port aint enough.
Do the USB ports on the Z63A/W3A have enough juice to power this?
