    Hey all,

I was thinking of getting a dock for my w3j so that i can attach everything from an external keyboard/mouse, to a new monitor. I guess i could do it without a dock, but i figured this way i wouldnt need to plug in and and pull out cables from my laptop every time i went anywhere with my laptop. Does asus make a dock that works well with the w3j? (i know it does for the w1j) If not, are there any generic docks out there that are pretty good? Thanks.

V1J will have a dock..you can buy aftermarket docks but for the vga the output is severely hampered..max of 1280 x1024..i just bought a usb2 hub with 7ports..thats good enough for me

As Jterp said, the the video out is the most important thing and without a dedicated port replicator which goes into a proprietary slot with the bandwidth for vga or dvi..... there is no GREAT option... and no, there isn't a dedicated W3 dock, but the V1j will have one as he said......... something I'm sure the new owner of a 14" W3 wants to here?!

Anyway... without VGA, basically you're looking at a USB hub, which may be what most people are looking for considering that's probably what wires they're trying to do away with.... so that's a good, cheap solution if you're not looking to hook up a monitor. But, i really can't suggest any good way to hook up a monitor through these usb docks... Kenginton has one I think, but the video is horrible and slow through usb..... so it's not even an option.

But you said Asus makes one for the W1 - and they don't... I'm not sure if you were confusing the W1 and V1...

I use a WUXGA 23" all the time.. that's 1920 x 1200... and I knwo you can go up beyond that on ALL of Asus' systems - integrated or dedicted graphics..... although I don't use it *much*...... 2048 x 1536 is I believe the limit, or so where around that point........ that's an awfully high res for a computer screen...... even at say 42"
