I'm looking for a new laptop and the Asus models look really good (compared to Dell, HP, etc.). I'm sold on the W3J, but it doesn't look like there is a docking station for it? As far as I can tell, the V1J is the only Asus model with a dockings station, but I really want a light 14 inch notebook (I'm replacing my HP dv4000 because it's just too big and heavy).

Does Asus have any 14 inch models with a Docking station option (or will they have one soon)?

V2 - looking at between 3-9 months.... I'm leaning toward believing we're much more towards the 2-3 month period than any thing else.

Below is a link to a pseudo product page for the V2 based on my eperience an a well thought out educated guess of our US configuration.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Looks like I may have to wait for it then :) Couple of questions:

    1. Will this be upgradeable to 2gb RAM and 7200 RPM hard drive?

    2. Is there a Firewire port on the laptop (didn't see one on the dock or in the list of features).

    3. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the "Built-in 3.5G" feature?

    4. Is the build quality on this model as good as I have read about the W3J?

    1. will it or can it? It can, but that is likely the spec as it is a business system.

    2. There is one on the side of the system, but there is not one on the dock.

    3. 3.5G is cellular wireless...... it's worth about $500 right now as a built-in feature on the Sony SZ series..... You'll need to activate internet service through one of the cell carriers to make use of it though.

    4. I've played around with the V1 and it's like a V1 but smaller...... and the V1 isn't much different than the feel of the V6.... which is really on par with the W1/W2/W3/W7...... in other words, it's sexy and solidly built.

No plans for a 12" on this docking system, or any other at this time.

Thats unfortunate to hear. I personally think that ultralight notebook would benefit most from docking stations, or maybe. I can always wish for one by next Christmas I guess.

Good question. It might be possible to drive one monitor off the dock and one off the laptops external port, though. The press release mentions the dock have its own GPU.

I wonder if something like the Belkin ExpressCard Dock combined with the laptop's own output could run two external monitors. Personally, I'm not in need of anything like that, but I was just thinking.

    EDIT: Jumper beat me
