Someone correctly me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. You cannot upgrade it.

Also the 8700 is just an overclocked 8600 to my knowledge, so I guess you could overclock it to the the 8700 specs. although I wouldn't recommend it.

I know that the 8600m adn 8700m are the same and the difference is mainly clock speed but i dont want to risk it. Does anyone know when a 17 or 15.4 inch notebook will be at retail stores that is not a Toshiba X205? Im buying this saturday for school and i really need the bets i can get. I might wait if i should though.

Yes, the 8600mGT in the G1s is very overclockable. There are a couple of threads floating around where it was done by resellers with little to no adverse effects. If you know what you're doing, it's quite doable, and gives a nice performance gain.

And to the OP, the Asus C90 is the one with the MXM GPU.

Even thou it seems the 8600m gt could be overclocked, but I don't think I would be trying it since the idle temp for mine is 71c and goes to 86c when gaming. I really won't want to see the temp going into the 90's range or even topping into the triple digits.
