As the title reads: By updating my G2S-A1 via Asus LiveUpdate, should my nVidia graphics drivers be updated? Someone say yes!

No. Asus Liveupdate is just for Asus programs.

I strongly recommend against the ASUS Live Update program. It is known to have serious bugs.

Just download any updates from support.asus.com , manually.

Well, my basis is people reporting the program eats up all the memory (RAM) of the notebook little by little, until there's no more to eat.

Also more than often it doesn't update anything at all.

Although this might have changed with newer versions, I still do not trust it, and advise you strongly to remove it.

But it's up to you of course. :)

You could always monitor its RAM and handle consumption using Task Manager (at least in XP you could I've heard the Vista task manager is much less informative).

There were also incidents where it corrupted the BIOs when it attempted to download and load a 'new' BIOs.

If this is true, shouldn't Asus do something rather then let their own factory-installed software corrupt their systems?

Many hardware developers use this type of program to update the drivers for their hardware. For example, my MSI motherboard had an update program that worked pretty well. However, the Asus Update program did nothing at all on my W3J so I uninstalled it.

It really is not that hard to download the drivers from Asus' website. Your Nvidia drivers are not going to be updated that often anyway. Most laptop manufactures do not provide the most current mobile drivers. Listen to what EBE said. Yes Asus does include the software on their machines and you the user have the ability to remove it. Every notebook I have had has had some useless utility or another. Just uninstall and be happy with your machine. :)

Well, obviously the answer is yes. Why is that not done? Well, I don't know... probably because they can.

I recently updated the bios of my G2S using the Asus Update program, so it does work, at least on the G2S. However, the program does crash in Vista from time to time.
