    10 or 11 inch display?

I was thinking about the HP Mini 311, but want to see what else is out there too from other manufacturers.

Hmm I dunno. I've only heard bad things about the Atom 330.

Yes, Atom sucks. But if you're looking for ION, then good luck finding one that's not in an ATOM netbook. In fact, good luck finding a netbook without an ATOM.

By the way, the ION is the same as the GeForce 9400m, which is a very common part in many laptops (though not netbooks).

Why not get a 12/13" laptop? As an owner of a netbook, these things are far, far over-rated. It's large enough that you need a bag anyway, so the size difference only amounts to wishing-it-were-bigger when you're actually using it. They're also slow which doesn't help. Of course, they are cheap, so if price is your concern, then I can understand why you're looking at them.

    }:^)~

The Asus N10J-A1 or A2 is "almost" an ION. Instead of a shared 9400m, it uses a dedicated 9300 with 256mb of RAM (and the ability to use shared memory too). GenTechPC has them for sale, complete with 10" LED backlit screen. Its one of the few netbooks to have discrete graphics. If you're interested in purchasing a used one for cheaper, I have one up for sale! Just PM me, since the complete info is currently up on [H]ardforum.

I don't have a problem with Atoms in general, I've just heard the 330 is incredibly hot and needs a loud fan.

Nvidia's ION platform is essentially the pairing of a GeForce 9400M G with an Atom CPU so he won't be able to find any for obvious reasons. XD

The only things I have heard about the 330 is how much better it is than a regular ATOM 270/280.

We will just have to wait and see how loud the fans on the ASUS really is.
Not trying to shoot you down or anything but you should reserve judgement until this netbook actually comes out.
To me this looks like a pretty powerful little system to have as a secondary laptop.

It will be interesting how this netbook performs, mostly HD playback and heat and noise management.
Would be even better if it comes with Turbo mode to OC the CPU as we have seen in some other systems.

    Any ETA?
    This looks promising!
I know that HP has there weakened version and Lenovo is coming out with the S12 any others I should look for?
The ASUS seems like the best combination of price and performance.
