I want to put a SSD on it and keep 500gb drive.

    I don't care about 24gb SSD cache.

is there a spare mSATA slot? or can I remove 24gb and and put different SSD?

    Thanks

There's only one mSATA slot, original SSD must be removed.

Yes, though not too sure whether there's a capacity limitation, 256gb is ok.
