Just a quick question does anyone know if the interface is SATA1 or SATA2?

The reason for asking is because I am considering this notebook but want to install SSD into bay1 and keep the large HDD in bay2.

    SATA1 is 150MB/s while SATA2 is 300MB/s.

SSD's can have increadible read and write speeds which exceed SATA1 (150MB/s) specification and will bottle neck its performance.

    Many thanks!

I'm betting that with the max write speed on this test, its SATA300.

SATA 2. I did the same thing: 64 GB SSD+320 GB HDD.

how easy is it to X-fer everything to the SSD? I have an X-25 G2 sitting here and Im not sure how I should go about making sure the OS and drivers are on it for a flawless exchange.

    Feel free to PM ;)

I did a clean install from a Windows 7 disc. It was amazingly fast compared to any Windows install I've ever done.

Well i cant help you much into transfering, but there is software that you can use for that, like Acronis TrueImage for creating disk images, so you can restore a harddrive if you ever need to or restore the image to a new harddrive.

But i like doing clean installs, so i dl all of the drivers from asus page, and did a clean install using orev utility key before i formated to have the activation key (and not use the sticker on the back of the laptop), this worked great. Then just installed all the drivers and everthing is fine.

Read the following thread to do the clean install, Orev Clean Vista install WITH NO ACTIVATION, in there you will find the utility and lots of info how to etc.
