Does anyone know when the Asus G71Gx will be available for order ?
This setup should offer best bang for buck ...
The onboard GTX260M should perform better then the 9800 GTX ...
this setup should be resonably priced too since the 280M is low in cost too ...

Asus brings the G71Gx gaming notebook to the CeBit 2009. As an upgrade to the G71, the G71Gx is equipped with world’s fastest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M notebook graphics processor with 1GB of DDR3 video RAM.
Asus G71Gx is based on Intel’s Centrino 2 platform supporting up to 12GB of DDR2 memory and up to 1TB of SATA hard drive storage. You can also expect Blu-ray drive, a 17-inch WUXGA HD display, and four dedicated Altec Lansing speakers. G71Gx also supports the NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology to bring sharper and smoother video transitions while utilizing very little power.

Not opinions, just speculation. An opinion is "I believe that the G71Gx should be priced competitively to compete with other low cost gaming notebooks". You just throwing random statements out there.
And I've always wondered, wth is with that stupid falling cat thing?
I'm in a terrible mood, I had 2 hours of sleep last night. Agh! -
I so want to know if one of those 260Ms will fit in a G50VT and match up with the heatsink...
-
I think it will. I will upgrade my 9800M GS
-
If their past pricing on gaming laptops is any indication, don't expect some sort of "bang for the buck". My G1S-A1 cost a good $2000CAD.
-
I was thinking more of the G50VT range ...
-
x is the nametag does somewhat hint 'extreme' which in this industry = premium more or less...

Lol. That would be such an epic win for us G50 users. -
That's going to be a gorgeous machine! Sadly tho, unless Nvidia decide they need (or want) to get serious with ATI and subsequently be more competitive with their pricing, I think this will be another expensive one.
What the market needs is a kickbutt, single ATI 4870 machine at an insane price, to give indication of where the 260m and 280m GPUs should sit. The MSI GT725 with single 4850 is a great start, but with only a 1 year warranty it doesn't factor into my personal wish list. -
The Sager 5797 is on preorder for $1692 with a P8600 and GTX 280M standard. The M860TU is receiving the GTX 260M as an upgrade option over the 9800M GTS, and the first European site to list it has it as just a +€119.00 premium. Yes, that's only $150 United States Dollars. In fact, Powernotebooks lists the 9800M GTX as +$265 more than the 280M, so you'd have to pay almost $300 to downgrade your GPU. Keep in mind that both of these cards are stronger than the 9800M GTX.
That should be all you need to speculate where Asus should go with the pricepoint of this GTX 260M equipped notebook, as it proves Nvidia is ready for battle... -
Ooo I like the sound of that! Bring it on

More good news and info. The Sager 8662 is selling with 260M, starting at $1392.

Now that's what I'm talking about... I have confidence something will eventually arrive on my side of the world at a relative price. All I have to do is wait.
Thanks for the link. -
Still haven't answered my question....
Why do you end everything with this?!

I've gotten endless compliments on my G71G-A1 everywhere I go, public places, airports, family and friends, and I love the overall value for the price I paid. I can't wait until the G71Gx comes out because I will swap my G71G-A1 and pay more for the difference in a heart beat!
