I've been looking for an ultra portable for a while now just waiting for the right time when technology is there in the form factor I want, it's pretty close to that time.

I've had my eye on a dell x300 for a while because it was the only laptop that met all my requirements. I've also looked at the Asus S5N but passed on it because I felt it was lacking in a couple of areas. I keep hearing about new sonoma models coming out from asus but I can't find anything in the S5N form factor.

So here is what I'm looking for and if you know of a laptop that will meet my needs please let me know and if you know of a newer asus model coming out that will meet my needs please post :D

    Ok here goes:

Ultra portable, less than three pounds (with normal battery)
    at least a 12" screen
pentium low voltage or ultra low voltage
    at least one pcmcia slot
integrated nic and wifi (preferably a/b/g)
    must have bluetooth (integrated)
    I highly prefer a 5400rpm drive as opposed to a 4200rpm one
I don't mind an external optical drive because I wont really need one a majority of the time.
And if possible a laptop based off of the sonoma platform (the newer video chipset catches my eye).

    Thanks

I don't think ASUS has anything like that yet in N. America.

Unfortunately the x1 does not have a pcmcia slot, otherwise it would be a strong contender.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the laptop also need to have a touch pad (which rules out alot of IBM's unfortunately :().
