It seems that the G51VX has an infrared port at the front, under the left corner. Does it really work? Is it possible to use it with a Media Center remote, for example?

The G51Vx-A1 (and possibly others) has an infrared receiver. In Device Manage it's called "ITECIR Infrared Receiver (EC)". I'm sure it works but not really sure what it works with. LOL!

Ah ha! Another entry in Device Manager: "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver".

    Does that help?

Great! Will check when I'm at home if my X1A has it, thanks for the info.

In the worst case there are tons of remotes for Media Center at sale in ebay, and they all come with an USB IR receiver. ;)

Mine shows the IR on device manager too, but using the Hauppage media centre remote doesnt seem to work with it.
Anyone know how to configure the IR signals to match remotes you have?
