Hi I was wondering if some core 2 duo W3j owners could post how hot their laptops get under load? I think this would be one of the main benefits of getting a core 2 duo over the last gen core duo if it ran cooler.

The most demanding games I've played so far are Neverwinter Nights 2 and F.E.A.R and I personally don't find that the laptop gets too hot. Even with the right exhaust port blowing near my mouse hand it's never becomes something that ruins the gaming experience. As for exact temps I haven't run NHC during games, but during normal use the CPU tends to stay between 50-55 degrees C.

The W3J is a warm laptop, you will find that it will get warmer under demand.
However, I haven't seen a case where it burnt someone or something.

I do suggest undervolting the W3J at higher speeds to help keep the temperatures down.

Overall most W3J owners both C2D or Core Duo don't find it to be too much of a problem and this is still one of the best 14" performance laptop out there.

So do you think you could play F.E.A.R (or for that matter any GPU intensive game) with it on your lap for 2 hours without it burning you? also MilestonePc do you think the W3j with C2D is running cooler that the W3j with CD?

Just went through 2:30 hours of F.E.A.R. without any major heat issues except learning to not put my mouse hand directly in front of the exhaust port.

I know its not a W3j, but I play FEAR on my V6j with no heat issues from exhaust at all. Is a W3 that much hotter?

Even after gaming for hours on end, the port doesn't get absurdly hot. I can put my hand directly on the exhaust without it burning or anything. No other part of the laptop is even overly warm.

Wow that is great, from the sounds of it the meroms are really bringing the heat down overall. I had suspected this when I was researching the macbook pro, but the reports seem to confirm it.
further comments on heat issues from owners of Asus merom notebooks are welcome.
