Hey all,
I just purchased a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220403 (ASUS G Series G50VT-X2 NoteBook) and listed in the specs is Windows Vista Home Premium (does not denote 64-bit) but on ASUS' web page it says that the laptop is sold in two main configurations both of which have the 64-bit OS and I read a couple customer reviews that put in the PRO section that it had a 64-bit OS. It should arrive on Friday but I wanna find out now if anyone has any experience with one of these!!! Thanks in advance.

If your system was not specifically ID'd as being 64 bit when you purchased it, then it's likely not. While you can always upgrade the Vista OS to one of the 64 bit editions, you won't get the same power and benefit of a system designed to be 64 bit from the start.
It's a shame you didn't know about it before you ordered one - there's just nothing like 64. I'll never go back to 32 bit paperweights. Still, you can always send it back and exchange it for a 64, or try at least. It's an automatic NO if you don't ask. -
According to this review ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=321146), it is 64 bit. Afaik, all the G50Vt models have Vista 64.

If it's a G50VT, it's Vista 64.

Yes, the G50VT-X2 has Vista 64 pre-installed

All notebooks going forward with 4GB of ram will be x64 unless they use standard onboard video because windows would not be able to use all the memory... The 4GB limit is shared across everything it is said. So if your video card had 512 and you had 4GB and ran 32-bit the most possible it could see is 3.5GB, but most system even than only see 3.25GB because of the way its addressed...
Manufactures would be dumb to sell 4GB notebook with 32-bit OS.. They mine as well not put 4gb in the system... And as for the cos tof it, 32-bit and 64-bit cost exactly the same on the licesnses... Some stores may decide to charge more for it but from a system builder/oem/retailer stand point the cost is the same. In fact sometimes the x64 is cheaper actually... -
My M70Vn came with premium x64, I put Ultimate on it anyway and it's far better than the 32bit on my desktop.

It is a waste for them to put 4gb in notebook with an add-on graphics card and than use 32-bit OS... Sad that some companies have no brains about some things... Even worse is some poor person will buy it and many will never know, but I guess what you dont know dont hurt, haha. -
For the record, yes it is stupid.
Does this ship with 64-bit Vista?
