    Does this warrant a reinstall?

I was noticing how im having really annoying issues when connecting External HD's, USB's, mouses and most other perpetuals (or however it spelt). It asks for drivers all the freaking time.

Oddly enough my ASUS re branded mouse worked, my usb (didn't ask for drivers) and my crappy old printer.

I have an ASUS G1 Aussie version (only difference is 120gb 5400rpm and Vista Ultimate)

    Cheers

How about trying a Windows System restore? I found it corrects most problems that I have when I install/uninstall programs and strange problems with connection of devices.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest a reformat. It not only brings everything back to factory but it also brings peace of mind.

i cant back up. The dvd option wont work for some reason, and if i buy an external HD it i need to plug it into a usb port. And it wont respond anyway besides pop up with 'browse the Internet for drivers' which it never finds.

so i dono what to do to be honest..

Thats where redundant daily or at least weekly data backups become lifesavers, you can even do them on the same hard drive on a different partition, then you simply reformat your primary partition reinstall your os, and you backup files are still sitting on the other partition ready to go.

I agree with persuasion, try system restore, if it solve most or even all of the problem, back your junk up, then reformat and clean install just to be safe, and be more diligent about your data.
