Hi i am about to buy a second hand W3A from the the net, and the guy tells me he did an hdd and memory upgrade when he purchased the thing. I am not 100% sure but from what i gathered upgrading hdd voids asus's 2 year warranty. Can any body confirm or refute thx. Oh yeah and one more thing if there are any W3A owners can u please inform on its quality short list of pros and cons will be greatly appreciated thx!

guessing you are in the states? w3a is the overseas model of the us z63a. Unless you got the model number wrong the z63a in the states is sold as a barebone. Meaning its dealer warranty and any and all parts can be swapped or replaced as long as there are no warranty stickers. Most likely there are none. If i were you i would contact the vendor that the warranty is from (if the vendor even does any warranty work). If not then the warranty is from asus only on the barebone no other parts. z63a was a very successful model and still remains to be one of the least problematic. Lowest rma rate from the popular models last year.

Hi thx for a quick reply i am actually not from the states i am from New Zealand. The actual model number the seller gave was ASUS W3000A which i figured was W3A. I dont think we have any barebones in here so they must be ensembles. Hdd upgrade on ensembles void warranty?

Sorry i am in the states i really have no clue how they get down out in nz. Sure if you bumb this thread some there may be other out your way that can help you. But i think if you keep your existing drive and upgrade the worst case scenario is that you will have to put the old drive back in once you have to rma. best case scenario nobody will notice

Hmm thanks i guess there is no clear statement from asus's global warranty policy that upgrading hdd is an act of voiding warranty, i have talked to the seller about this and the seller has actually offered the winner the original hdd for 60 usd might take it just in case. Ne way thx alot for ur help.
