So I've finally decided I cannot wait any longer and I must purchase now. The last two weeks, new things kept popping up and made me doubt myself. Asus C90, Sager 2090, Asus V1S, Asus..........................whatever. There were always other options and I felt that if I didn't fully check them out, I would end up making the wrong choice. No more, I leave for school in two and a half and I need this notebook now!

I want to buy the Asus G1S but I don't know where to get it from. Where is the cheapest place that I can buy it with the best possible service available? Some of the mentioned resellers include XoticPC, BTOtech, Gentech. The price is pretty much the same all around. Xotic is pricematch to 1865 with shipping while Gentech and BTOtech have it at 1805 with free shipping. Only Xotic offers a 15 day return policy without a restocking fee which is why I'm guessing is a little more expensive.

Who has bought from either one of these three and how have your experiences been with them? Also, am I right in understanding that once I have the notebook and something does happen to it, the reseller is no longer responsible for it. It just goes straight to the Asus customer service? In that case, I won't need to contact the reseller again or ship to them to fix it, right? What happens if I end up having a major hardware failure that cannot be fixed by Asus? Am I sent another computer of the same price and specs back or do I get my money back?

I'm also open to other resellers as long as they have a great reputation and sizable return policy, just in case.

The G1s is warranteed by ASUS, but if you customize it, it's with the dealer. I believe BTOTech doesn't have a restocking fee before 15 days as well.

And you assume correctly, the reseller has no part of it but selling it to you, unless the reseller themselves offer their services. So if something happens like the video card fries, you contact ASUS and send it to them.

I don't think there is anything that ASUS will not honour your warrantee, unless it's something like physical damage or water damage.

Does anyone have any experience with PROPortable?? They offer 14 days to return but with 20% restocking fee.

They have the free Bluetooth Express Card Remote Control and a Li Lian USB notebook cooler with any purchase of any Asus Ensemble notebook. They also have $50 off purchase with the student discount. This seems like the best deal, but has anyone taken advantage of this deal yet?

I assume that all restocking fees are in place only if you want a full refund and there is nothing wrong with the system itself, right? If there is something wrong with the product and I choose not to get a replacement and choose to return it and want my money back, I'm still charged the restocking fee?

PROPortable seems to have very good reseller ratings, so I'm sure they must have good service.

Of note, GenTechPC has the G1s-A1 for 1805 w/ free shipping.

I've ruled out Gentech because they don't exactly have a return policy. Once you buy it, it's yours.

That Lian Li cooler is sharp! I really like Lian Li products although I wouldn't have a use for it. Congrats on your decision to get the G1S. Newegg will not refund a laptop btw. I would definetly get it from someone with a good return policy and service. Back when I bought a compal it wasn't powerful enough for my needs and was able to return it for a refund (this was Matt with discountlaptops.com). If he was still around and sold ASUS I would buy from him. Service is a huge plus+.

I bought mine from XoticPC and was really happy with their service. Everyone I spoke to or e-mailed spoke English and was very knowledgeable and helpful.

How long did it take yours to ship from xoticpc? It's been a week and several days and I haven't recieved mine.
