    Dont buy the Asus A8Js
Dont be attracted to the fancy specs. Trust me, its the worst laptop ever. The LCD is the worst you've ever seen. It the cheapest build quality. I just bought it like 40 days ago and the hard disk has crashed (just random crash, laptop was kept closed, still it crashed)
The build quality is so cheap that whenever you apply pressure to the area in front of the keyboard(sideways of the touchpad) you can actually see it bending.

The top of the laptop is so prone to scratches. I treat it better than my girlfriend and still its filled with scratches.

    DONT BUY THE ASUS A8Js

This was what I wrote first

    Now(Present views on the A8Js)
BUY IT. THE HDD IS FINE. IT WAS JUST A VIRUS THAT MADE IT CHANGE ITS STATUS TO PIO MODE

I think you were unlucky. Sorry, but a small percentage of all laptops regardless of their manufacturer are going to be duds.

Dont buy it trust me. Please visit the A8Js owners lounge, you'll see how bad the screen is. The build quality is cheaper than those of the $200 Sahara laptops you get in Dubai.

Reviews like this are a disservice to notebookreview. Do a search for A8JS reviews on the internet. All of them are 4/5 or 5/5 stars.

I got mine about a month ago and in most ways it's great. I read the comments about scratches and put a piece of plastic on the top when I first opened it up. Big deal. The screen is not perfect either, but absolutely no 1440x900 14" screens are. Read the reviews. LG, Samsung, CMO, AUO (same screens used in Dell and others) all are similar. If you find a 14" 1440x900 screen you like better in the future, they are easy to replace.

No, it's not perfect. I hate the touchpad, it has no feel at all. The Fn<->Cntl key swap is stupid. The speakers aren't great. But find me a laptop that's perfect. Find me a 7700 in a 14" laptop for the $1400 I paid and I'll buy it. It doesn't exist.

I have my A8Js for about a week. So far I'm pretty happy with it. The build quality is surprisingly much better than I had expected. Definitely better than my friend's HPs and Dells. I don't know which screen I got, but it's the same quality as my last W3V, and that's pretty much all I care about. I guess I'll have to wait another month to see if the HDD will crash.

Aww man how ironic, my HDD is perfectly fine and its was just a virus which made it change its status to PIO Mode. So heads up, go for the Asus A8Js

Then why are you not deleting the rest of this rant?
    - Just about every plastic notebook flexes if you put a lot on pressure on it.
    - The build quality is not poor. I've found it to be equivalent to HP, Dell, etc.
    - Many high-resolution screens are like the ones in the a8 series. It is a drawback of the high resolution.

    Asus is not being cheap.

The A8jp is a better value.

But driver support is zilch. I guess you pay $200 more for better Nvidia drivers and slightly faster performance.

Other than BIOS and video, you can always use the a8js drivers. It has the same parts.
