I remember reading someone say something about having a problem with the keyboard sometimes typing out the same key twice, and now I'm having the same issue every so often--it's very annoying.

I can't seem to re-find the exact thread/post area where the issue came up, and I don't remember reading a -real- fix for it.

So just a quick question: is there a fix for it? A driver update or something? It doesn't happen too often, but today alone, it's happened at least 10+ times.

G71GX is brand new so the post would have been recent. Isnt the keyboard the same as the first G71 though so it must be software or driver or something.

Yeah, I had a feeling it'd be somewhere in the G71GX thread, but there's so many and so many posts accumulate every hour.

And I believe it's the same keyboard, so yeah, I hope it's just a software/drive update I need, but I just can't seem to find it very easily.

All the G71 series models use the same keyboard.

As for the double-typing issue, some G71G/V owners have reported that updating their BIOS to the 702 version has reduced the frequency of this occurrence, however, this BIOS version isn't available from the Asus website. I'd try flashing your BIOS with the 3 newer versions that are currently up on the Asus site, starting with the newest one first and see which one helps with the double-key issue.

David, might possibly be bad advice since they just got a bios to fix their video card issue :p

That depends if the OP is having any issues in the first place and the BIOS version he currently has :)

Possibly but i do believe all G71GX BB owners had reported experiencing their issue. HOWEVER it is possible that a G71G/V bios never had the issue and works prefectly fine on it and that they messed up the G71GX launch bios.

No bios updates have helped yet...

Right now I'm on the newest one, which helps with the underclocking problem (by getting rid of it).

And I'm still quite commonly getting problems with keys being typed twice. Ugh, this laptop has already gone back once, I hope it's a software issue and not a hardware one.

If I don't find the fix for it within like, these 14 days, it might just have to go back and I'll look into some other non-Asus model.

Try uninstalling the touchpad driver. Doing this helped with the keyboard lag in other Asus notebooks, and maybe it can also help with the double-key issue.

Alright, uninstalled the driver/program, I haven't had anymore issues.

I hope it stays this way, so thanks guys.

One last quick question: so is this a sort of...common problem? My friend picked up one today and said he's yet to encounter the problem. I hope it isn't a hardware issue on my model, because like I said, I want to like Asus and don't want to exchange it again/get rid of it all together.

    Thanks again.

If uninstalling it worked try a newer version of the driver from synaptics, for some people on the G50 i think that worked but i forget as usual lol.
