I have an ASUS A55A. How in the world do I install Win7 onto my computer? It has Win8 on it from the factory.
ASUS will not help me saying that they can only help with Windows 8. I simply do not like not being able to choose for myself the OS I want.
    Thank you

If you install 7, they will not support you over the phone in the future either, just FYI.

To install Windows 7, you need to enable CSM/Legacy BIOS (or disable UEFI Boot), then disable Secure Boot. Then you should be able to run your installation media and install Win7. :)

I did that. It's something to do with the motherboard as windows 8 is on it and its hard to remove. I booted from the Win7 cd and it gt a a point then said it coudn't install it. ? ASUS is no help anyway. One time I called ASUS about the Touchpad and he said I need to take it to a repair shop...LOL.

It's not the motherboard. :) It's true that they load the Windows 8 license into the firmware, but Windows 8 - as an operating system - is not installed on to the motherboard. That's why CSM/Legacy BIOS needs enabled, or UEFI boot disabled.

Also, I forgot to mention that your storage drive needs to be configured as MBR for Windows 7. THAT'S probably why you're getting the message; because it's still set to GPT (for Windows 8).
