Have a SCA400 w/SmartGesture. Have installed TouchFreeze and TouchpadPal to 'freeze' the touchpad. However, what is most disconcerting is that, when 'dragging' the pointer to a location, many times, inadvertent folders, etc. are moved.

I just want a very basic touchpad a la my old Dell Inspiron.

All suggestions, ideas, solutions very welcome.

It seems just about all touchpads are created equal these days. I always advise a USB mouse (wireless at that, for laptops on the go anyway). I think just about any trackpad in any modern system is going to function similarly, if not identically, to your Asus unit's trackpad.
