My w3j got dropped on the floor today from about 4 feet up  , thankfully it was on carpet (there were some other things that got tangled up with it tho). It actually looked like it landed quite peacefully, only upside down whilst turned on. Everything appears okay cosmetically and it turns on and chkdsk came up clean. Is there anything else that I should do to check its condition? I turned it off and gave it a little shake and everything still seems to be attached, but I'm still a little worried.
    thanks for your help,
    Dan

Should be fine, if you're really worried, backup your HD, do a HDTune and a defrag to see if it will stall.

Besides the HD, everything else should be fine.

Why did ya do that? :D J/K Check the memory to make sure that they are still seated correctly. Besides that and checking the hard drive (which you did) I can't think of anything else.

My notebook was in my bag whilst at college and it fell on the floor.

Thankfully my bag protected it mainly however the power plug pins managed to go through the padding and into the back of my screen. All the damage i got was cosmetic as in a few dents and scratch marks but the LCD is fine, and all my compenents are fine.

This did happen back in March and i havn't had any issues which didn't occur before this happened.

They are built solidly so i would say everything is fine.

However i am quite worried now however because i am having several BSOD and if i end up having to send it back, i may get a lot of questions from this, and due to the cosmetic damage, and if there are hardware faults they may blame the fall it had and void my warranty.
    Is that possible?

your laptop should be fine. i mean my dell has survived worse falls and the ASUS has far superior build quality than dell.
but like everyone else said...hard drive, memory, and it should be okay.

As was said, the only problems would be with the moving parts, so if your HDD is fine, then the only other thing to worry about is the optical drive, but you said it landed on carpet, and flatly, so I wouldn't worry about that.

If i have a dent in my notebook casing where i dropped it, and i was to have a Hardware fault later on would ASUS void and disclaim my warranty?

thanks for all the quick replies guys, everything seems relatively fine except for 1 usb port that got ripped out a little in the fall. The port still works but only with the usb cable that was initially in there (that little black piece of plastic is stuck in the usb cable so the cable only works in that particular port too) I ran HDTune with no errors and in general everything seems smooth. Hopefully this will continue!

Haha I wasn't gonna say what happened but since you guys asked....it was my girlfriend that did it!! She was putting something away near where I have my w3j docked and she tripped on my headphone cord (which, according to her was out too far?) I was just coming in the door at the time and heard the cuffuffle and my heart sank because i knew it was my computer. Thankfully everything is relatively ok but she still feels pretty bad. I think I'm over the initial shock of the whole event....maybe haha

BTW, should i bother trying to fix the usb port? Like I said, it still works but only with the 1 usb cable.

thanks again for all the replies,
    Dan

Try pulling the little black piece out and putting it back in the port. I had the black thing come off on one of my old laptops, and the plug worked fine as long as you didn't actually bend any of the pins on the inside.
