Would you get the current V6Va with IPS or wait for the new dual core V6V without IPS?
Is there a chance a small number of the dual core V6V's will have IPS?

That's a great question and one that I'd say a dozen people ask us everyday.....
You're simply not going to beat the screen... period...... and no Asus has said they can't put it on the V6j at this point for availability and cost reasons........
Do you NEED the benefit of dualcore? Yes, it will be a bit more expensive, and you will lose the IPS screen..... but you will have the new chipset. The bigget question is in three years will you have seen a big difference between the two.
... right now - unless you're a very heavy user, I'd think not. -
It seems(from the pics) that the V6j has a traditional matte....
I wonder if its the same as the V6v? Probrably though... -
Unless you are e heavy multi-tasker, I'd opt for the screen.
-
Does the Z70VA come with IPS screen? I like the widescreen format but if the IPS is superior it's going to be a tough choice.
-
They don't come in IPS screen. I think z70va has matte screen
-
yea the Z70va is matte and doesn't come with IPS

dugdug,
the Z70va does not have IPS, but it has one of the BEST matte screens outta all laptops.
If you want a Widescreen ASUS laptops, the ever popular Z70va is still very popular, and i do recommend it.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,

Jtom,
I do appologize for hijacking your thread, but I am also having a hard decision to make on what to buy and when. I am trying to decide betweeen Z70VA, V6Va or just wait for dual core V6Ja to replace my aging notebook. Thank you for other kind replies. -

but anything is possible at this point........ maybe the Lamborghini VX model based on the V6j will get the glaretype and the regular model get a matte display....... It would be a shame to step that far backwards, but the cheaper the screen, the lower they can set the price....
... so who knows. Right now the V6va w/ IPS screen is the only sure way to go, obviously. -
I'm also stuck between the Z70va and V6va..
hah soo many decisions.. :asus:
what to do.. -

We'll, let me unstick you......... the V6 models are the natural progression of the M6 models (which the Z70va is based on). It represents about a year and half's worth of innovation in Asus' notebook design and construction.
Differences between the Z70va and V6va.
Z70va
1. option for portbar3 on Z70
2. widescreen on Z70
3. configurable
V6va
1. ips screen
2. thinner
3. lighter
4. higher grade of finish
5. 2 year global asus warranty
6. ..... ips screen (I know I mentioned that twice) -
When do you think the asus lamborgdini notebook will be released?
-
I'd like to point out that the fully configurable "pro" of the Z70Va is a big one considering that the V6Va comes with a 4200RPM HD...

..... even though it's adding to the cost, that's really all you can argue with and I'd like someone to be get a system (lets say from apple or sony) .... that comes close to it for the price.. I'll stop you right here because the screen, build and size can't be matched by anyone else right now, so I think it's fair to say it's just the cost of having the best.
As far as the Lambo VX series is concerned.. the model based on the V6j should be out a couple weeks after the V6j starts shipping..... lets say towards the end of March....... Afterall it had a Q1 ETA... I think it may just make it. -
Swapping out the HD in an Ensemble system will void the global warranty from Asus.
No doubt, the V6Va is a stunning standard aspect ratio laptop. I do wonder why Asus has not opted to make a transition to widescreen in this class, however. -
But if you put it back if you ever need to repair it, they'll never know
-
I guess that negates the, sell the original HD on ebay argument about price, huh?
-
Sorry for being an idiot, but what exactly is IPS?
-
Im confused in what to do. Since Merom is coming out, that of course would be better to get, but i want a notebook by summer. (W2j), any opinions on that? Think the Duo core will be fine?
-
IPS = In Plane switching.
To keep it simple, it makes a LCD panel look like a CRT screen, only better and thinner. -
-
it wont be a comparison. IPS panels are the panels used in desktop lcds that graphics professionals prefer. like the nec or lacie monitors. there is no comparson to other monitors. even the W2V panels pales when being compared to the IPS screen.
