Is there anyway to have both the laptop screen and a monitor work as dual monitors?
-
Yup.... all the screen settings are in your nvidia control panel.
-
download newer drivers for 86OOM GT from laptopvideo2go.com and rightclick on desktop to select 'nvidia controlpanel' there you can do all settings
-
There's no reason for which any older driver shouldn't do it, as well.
In fact, for dual monitor you should only need to access the Windows display settings. And choose "extend desktop". At least in XP it worked like that. -
Cool thanks a lot, didn't want to spend the money without being 100% sure you acn do it on a laptop

I cannot get working my g1s also on my tv with dual monitor function, it only shows desktop wallpaper and thats all, no icons no taskbar, nothing at all..
what the problem can be?
-
Uh. If it's a dual monitor that's what it should do, because it's an extension of your monitor. The taskbar will be there on the 2nd monitor in Windows 7, apparently -- but not in XP or Vista.
You should be able to drag windows on the TV (2nd monitor) and therefore work with a larger desktop area. -
Ok, then how can I get video playing on my 2nd monitor??
-
Not sure you can, I think it depends on how versatile the media player is. Play in windowed mode, move the media player window over the external screen, and then hit fullscreen. There's a good chance this will get the image back on the primary monitor; if so, just maximize window instead of going full screen.
You can always clone the display instead of extending it of course, which would ensure that you always see the same thing on the internal as on the external. If you are only interested in watching the movie, this is probably the best way to go.
Be aware that some DRM protection schemes will forbid the movie being played at once on two devices -- in which case you need to turn OFF the internal screen (Fn+F8 to cycle between internal, external+internal, external only).
Hope this helps. -
in XP, it was automatic, as long as both monitors were active. (dual mode.) run a dvd or divx/xvid file in WMP or MPC, and you'd get a full screen in one of the displays, depending on how you set up your display properties. my Dell notebook, using "stock" drivers, i even had an option when i right clicked a video file -- i could choose then which display. after i upgraded my drivers, i lost this functionality.
on my ASUS notebook, running Vista x64-- haven't figured it out yet. but suffice to say it's different from how XP is doing things. if i run a video, it shows up on both displays. anyone know how to get video on the laptop, but desktop on the monitor?
