I have a F3k Series notebook with 2gb already. I opened it up and it has 2 slots for memory. I want to get 2x 2gb sticks but im not sure weather or not it can support dual ch memory.

I know from my desktop, I can because of the color difference in slots on my mobo. Is that the same with notebooks? or am I safe to try buying dual ch. ram.

And also any recommendations on which ram.

    Notebook Spec:

    ASUS F3KA - A1 vista premium

    AMD TL-60 2.0ghz

    15.4" display

    160gb HD

    2gb Memory

    ati 2600 512mb

I read in the F3KA thread that someone had 4gb memory.

All notebooks that are out now support dual channel memory.

This thread contains some useful info about dual channel RAM in notebooks, in particular, 2GB + 1GB has almost the same bandwidth as 2 x 2GB.

A few of the notebooks which are designed for very long battery life (eg Sony TZ and G series) use the Intel 945GMS chipset which has only one memory channel.

And anyway, dual channel benefit in notebooks is nearly non-existent. Also andrewj84, please be aware that many notebooks have (hardware or BIOS) issues with 4GB of RAM. You should get positive confirmation from someone who is running 4GB on your model of notbeook before investing into it.
