I have a Asus G50V-X1, it came with a 200G Seagate Momentus running at 7200RPM. It's partitioned into 2 drives at the moment. Now obviously I want to upgrade since I only have 80G left already, now my question is.

I want to buy the 500G Seagate 7200RPM, and just repartition the 200G back into a single drive. Will the laptop recognize the both HDD even tho' they are different sizes, I"m not looking into doing any RAID, I just want a C: of 200g and D: of 500G.

Also I read I need a HDD bracket of some type from Asus but they don't have it in stock anyone know anywhere else I can get one? Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums.

To delete an existing partition, you can right click on "computer" -> select "Manage" -> Storage -> Disk Management. From there you can format and delete partitions to your liking. Make sure you make a backup copy of your existing data as a precaution.

When you install a 500gb HDD in your secondary HDD bay, your system should detect it and be able to use it without any issues. As for the HDD bracket, I'd call the Asus estore and ask them about the availability. As of now, others have been improvising with foam and/or other household materials to secure their HDD without the bracket.
