    Hey All,

To my dismay, I found out that both of my EEE batteries have issues. It is just my luck that I have found this as the warranty has ended. I don't believe the battery was even covered by the warranty, but Asus has been decent with extending the conditions at times.

For my situation, I have a 1000H and 1000HA with 6 cell OEM batteries. It seems that my 1000H battery will not charge above ~70%, but recognizes that it is a full 6 cell and my 1000HA battery will charge to 100% but it is only recognized as a 3 cell. After extensive testing using PCWizard and BatteryMon with both EEE's and different chargers, I have found it to be isolated to the batteries. I have attempted to reset each battery by draining to 10% or so and fully recharging with no luck.

My primary concern is the issue of battery issues leading to heat/fire. In my observations I cannot feel any abnormal heat, but would the above battery conditions have a higher potential for battery fire? Normally I would not worry, but in both cases I have lost between 30-50% and I am worried that the cells are damaged in a way that could be dangerous. I am considering purchasing replacement batters (non-oem due to price) and I understand that may be just as risky. Does anyone have any insight? Thank you!
