    Hi guys,

I just bought a new 1015P on sale and am loving it :D The only thing I'm concerned about is ensuring it lasts for a long time, particularly the battery.

My other computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad. It has the ability to set thresholds for when the battery charges. At the moment I have it set to charge only when capacity falls below 80%, and stop charging when capacity reaches 95%. This prevents the battery from unnecessarily charging and extends its life.

The thing is I swear I was able to set these in control panel on the Thinkpad, but I can't find the settings on the Eee PC, nor can I find any info on the net. Is there anyway to do this?

If not, does anyone have any tips for making the battery last as long as possible? I'm going to be using this a lot away from the wall, and while I accept that the battery will degrade, I do want good use out of it. At the moment I know that it's good to only charge when the battery is low. The guy in the shop said to unplug as soon as it finishes charging, but this doesn't make much sense given that it would unnecessarily use cycles...

    Many thanks!

Check out this link, lots of helpful information: http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...et-upgrades/91846-notebook-battery-guide.html

Don't wait for your battery to get too low to recharge. Very low battery can damage Li-ion cells. Also, Asus' battery management is pretty good. I know mine charges to 100%, then doesn't top up till it hits 95%. So far it's got about 14% wear after ~18 months, and I use it all the time as a mobile computer.
