I just upgraded my 1000h to a 2GB Ram stick and XP recognizes it fine but when I boot up in Vista, it still only shows 1GB of Ram available. Can anyone help me here?

vista jacks a ram .... fyi.

    so 3gb = 2gb to vista.

    Huh?

OP, maybe 1GB is allocated to the GPU as shared memory? Although allocating half the memory is a bit weird.

It must be a Vista issue if the RAM shows in XP. But I don't have other ideas than the above. Could you post a screenshot of the system properties, and one with CPU-Z on the Memory tab?

Thanks for replies, I frantically searched about how to fix the problem and I did. All I needed to do was to get into bios to recognize the 2GB Ram first and then boot up, then both worked fine! :)

It's still a weird problem, why should you need to go into BIOS as the memory has to be recognized during POST anyway?

But yeah, glad you solved it. Do you have a link with where you found the solution? Maybe they also explain the problem.

I have the same problem, I just grabbed an eee pc 1000h, installed windows 7, ( which still works pretty efficient with 1 gig of ram I might add) installed the new memory. Im assuming it is a similar if not the same problem as if I was using vista. What exactly did you do to resolve the issue?
