I did something pretty dumb. I was piping my guitar amps Headphone out jack into my line-in on my laptop so i could play to some music. Well somehow I had the volume all the way up on the amp and gave the guitar a good slap (bass) and all of a sudden I lost audio and it said that I had disconnected the input. I knew I had fried it right away. Now most of the time that the laptop is on I can hear very odd noises. They sound like the alien weapons from the original War of the Worlds.
Is there a way to totally cut off the speakers? I have disabled/uninstalled everything related to the onboard sound and it still does it. All I can really think of is opening it up and physically cutting the wires on the speakers.
Any ideas?

Instead of cutting the laptop speakers why dont you just put a headphone jack in. Does that stop the noise? If that works then it would probably be easier to cut the jack off a pair of headphones and just keep the jack installed.
