    Hi all!

I was looking to buy a new Asus laptop from Ebay but I am worried about if the warranty will be covered or not...

Ebay is not an authorized seller? However, the seller says in the description that the laptop is covered by the full 2 year 1 year accidental warranty. Will Asus honor a laptop bought brand new, sealed, in the box from Ebay if the seller is not on the authorized reseller list on the Asus website?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Nothing purchased on Ebay is likely to be warranted by Asus in the event something breaks, unless the individual seller is an authorized reseller of Asus products (i.e. GenTechPC has an Ebay store). The problem purchasing @ Ebay is that you cannot produce valid proof of purchase should Asus request that prior to doing warranty work.

Ebay is an auction house, not a reseller, so no - Ebay isn't an authorized seller.

If you want to be sure of a valid warranty, spend the money and purchase the notebook from a valid sales point -- reseller, retailer, etc.

What about refurbished Asus products? Does this go the same way? If I buy a refurb laptop off of ebay...Scratch the warranty because chances are the seller is not authorized?

There's generally no such thing as Asus refurbished; open box, yes. Asus NA tech/warranty support doesn't refurb products that I'm aware of - some resellers might do work on a unit, but that's it. On the other hand, I guess if a unit broke and then the seller mailed it to Asus for repair they might be tempted to call it "refurbished" rather than "repaired."

I believe that any listings on Ebay which imply a refurb Asus are misinformed and incorrect.

Another question for you wonderful minds out there...

If you buy the g71 from Best Buy, the warranty is one year long...However, the warranty on the label states that this is through the manufacturer...Does this mean that Asus will cover this laptop internationally for up to one year? I am hoping to travel to Asia within the next few months and I am wondering if it would be covered over there with the Best Buy Warranty...

    Thanks!!!

Asus notebooks purchased from Best Buy usually only carries a 1 year North America warranty. If you wish to have an international warranty, you'd have purchase a notebook from a reseller.
