First of all, I am not asking anyone to give me directions on how to circumvent a Windows password. Please don't post suggestions like that because I don't want this thread to be locked.

My sister and her husband recently bought a 1000HE. They installed Motorola Phone tools so they could tether their Razr to their 1000HE and get internet. After they installed Motorola phone tools they found that their computer would go to standby very frequently and randomly. They tried adjusting the power options to no avail. They then decided that they would remove the password requirements so that they could just click on the icon to log back in rather than to type their password in. They wanted to get to the point where when they turned it back on it would automatically log back in so they started deleting user accounts. After they had deleted everything, of course all that was left was the administrator account that you have to create when you install Windows. I do not understand how they deleted every account without first logging into the Administrator account but somehow they are telling me that they only have the Administrator account that was created when Windows was installed. Since they did not install Windows, they are wondering how they can get this password. Is there some tech support line that knows what this password is? I have been on the Asus website and had difficulties finding tech support phone numbers. I have read that you can hit F9 as you're booting and that will reset it to factory defaults but I'm assuming that will also erase all data they have saved. If you were in my position which way would you direct them? Thanks.

Factory restore will erase everything. You could back everything up and then do that. But asus tech or someone on here might have a better workaround
