Any opinions on these? It look like it meets my needs perfectly. Hows the battery life on them?
If its a matter of 45min battery but ones over all a bit more powerful I'll go with that one. So.. ION or Congo?
Thanks guys.![]()

1201N has dual core Atom, Neo MV-40 is single core, ION is more powerful than HD 3200. So IMHO if you can swing the extra $100 I'd go with 1201N.
But depends on what you want to do. If you just want basic web browsing then the 1201T is ok, but if you want to try to game, 1201N is the better deal. -
I was under the impression the T was the AMD L325 dual core.
-
No, it has the MV-40 single core Neo 1.6GHz. At least everything I've read, and that's what's in it at places that carry it (i.e. newegg.com)
If you want the L325 then perhaps consider the MSI U230 (L335) or Toshiba T115D-S1125 (L325). Both are 11.6" vs. 12.1" but that's minor IMHO. The MSI is the better deal I think because it includes Wi-Fi N and Gigabit Ethernet, where the Toshiba has only Wi-Fi G and 10/100 Ethernet. But still a great machine. -
I guess then my Question should be what better on power and battery? 1201N or the U230?
Am I right in that the AMD is faster than the Atom, but the ION is faster than the 3200HD? -

I recently picked up a 1201N and have been impressed with it. You can pick one up now before they stop making them, or wait and see if Asus comes out with a new version that takes advantage of the latest dual-core Atom CPU. I doubt that will happen due to Intel's desire to limit the platform, but who knows.
I get around 4.5 hours of battery life on the 1201N when browsing the web and chatting. A Newegg reviewer reported 4 hours with the U230. It appears there's a slight battery time penalty on the AMD platform. I can't say if the AMD CPU is better than the Intel Atom, but I will say that the Atom is rather limiting particularly when an application isn't multi-core aware. The Atom is also restricted to 32-bit memory addressing even though it supports a 64-bit instruction set. The AMD L325 does not appear to have that problem and it supports virtualization instructions the N330 doesn't support.
The 1201N and U230 are so close in terms of specs and price I think you'll be happy with either one. I liked the build quality and appearance of the silver 1201N. Take a visit to your local electronics store and see if you can find a Wind or EEEPC that has the same form factor of the U230 or 1201N. Your decision might just come down to which one feels better to use and has less battery and hotkey management software. -
Isn't the new Atom a 2.0?
If there is word on a refresh in a few weeks I may just wait. -
The Toshiba T115D-S1125 gets about 5-6 hours of battery life.
The AMD L335 is more on par with the SU4100 than an Atom. And yes the ION is faster than the HD 3200, but not by much. On the Toshiba I was able to overclock my GPU and CPU slightly to get it on par with the ION in the Mini 311.
But if GPU is more important to you, then by all means, go with the 1201N. If you want decent CPU power, then go with the U230 or T115D -
Couldn't you get a ul20 for about the same price?
-
UL20 is $600, 1201N, MSI, and Toshiba are all $450 to $500. Plus the UL20 comes with Intel GMA GPU.
Depends on what the OP wants to do with it though. If no gaming, then the UL20 would be a good choice as well.
Also, I do not believe there is a 2.0GHz Atom CPU due any time soon, at least not one that is power efficient that I know of. -

I believe there is a Z-series Atom that is designed for portable devices like a cell phone and such.
Edit:
Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Atom_microprocessors
and they have the Z550 Atom CPU @ 2.0GHz
and the Sony P has the Z5xx series Atom CPU. 2.4W is incredible for what it offers. But the Z series seems to cost 4x the amount of the N series Atom.
