Is that correct?
*EDIT* Never mind, updated to latest BIOS and now its showing the full 4gb, thanks again! -
Is it the super-talent one?
Is it working dual channel?
overclocked to 2.3ghz and nvidia tools?
I think you've proposed this some threads ago!
Please PM me if you are able with your email also 'cause I've got some more questions concerning SETFsb you use!
Thanks! -
Can you please tell me what brand/speed ram are you using?
It's 2x2gb dimms?
Thanks! -
Hope that helps. -
I may need some help on the setfsb setup...I'll let you know as soon as I try it, especially this with the step!!
Thanks a lot for your quick response!! -
If I wanted to install windows XP on my second partition, which AHCI driver should I integrate in XP so as to recognize the HDD in the setup?
I don't want to modify the BIOS to IDE mode because I want to dual-boot easily win7 with just a restart!!
It is ich7 or ich8 or ich9 or what?
I don't want to have performance in WinXP, just wlan and lan, no special graphics needed so I'll install I think only the intel vga driver, right?
Thanks! -
-
I've tried to find it bare as the ich** series but....no luck~
EDIT: Found it
Thankssss! -
There is a strange issue, even via SHE with modded bios or SETFSB with oem bios or any combination, as soon as I overclock even at 1900mhz, my usb3 ports stop functioning!?!?!
They don't "come back" unless I shut down (not even restart)!!
What can I try more? Everything else works correctly, every time I overclock I have my lan disabled!!
Thanks! -
You left it this way? -
-
So with your two USB 2,0 ports on your right side there is no problem when overclocking even to 2.2Ghz?
If this is the case, then I can search for a right side module (it's only wired to the mainboard) with usb 2.0 ports and I'm gonna b fine... -
-
Just for info of other members facing same issue!
No need to restart! -
Just tried mass effect 3 on this thing to see how laggy it would be and i was presently surprised. The game runs @ a pretty consistent (and relatively smooth) 25-40fps when set to 800x600 resolution (antialiasing on and dynamic shadows on). The game seems to be bottlenecked by the cpu on this device as switching antialiasing on/off makes no difference to fps. Resolution however does have an impact and fps plummets when set any higher than 1024x768 (which is borderline playable).
I was using my maximum overclocks during this test therefore peoples results will vary but sufficed to say mass effect 3 is very playable on this machine if you dont mind a slight blurring due to the lowered resolution. -
which are the best drivers for the nvidia card? (or the ones less laggy?)
Thanks -
In other news - today i upgraded the standard 250gb hdd in my 1215n to a Crucial M4 128gb ssd. I used Acronis' migration software to clone the drive onto the ssd and simply plugged in the new drive. Performance is noticably snappier all around. Startup is faster, web pages and applications in general are more responsive and the whole experience of using this netbook is improved significantly. It's an expensive upgrade but i was getting sick of the lagginess and hanging of the standard seagate drive so in my opinion it was worth it - so far so good. -
I came just to say that "Mount and blade: Warband" works at full speed with all settings high, at 1920x1080 resolution (on HD TV). You only have to play with DirectX 7
-
I've also updated my nvidia drivers to 301.24 and civ4 feels less laggy but, sometimes makes the game (civ4) stop working.
I've played the first episode of Walking Dead and it was ok (low graphics). -
Hey Guys and Girls,
I know this thread is a little old, but I recently formatted a friends 1215n and I was wondering what nvidia drivers work the best?
I have read mixed results, where some people only say to use the Asus ones however others say the latest Nvidia are actually fine.
Any suggestions?
I noticed that using the asus one's, the nvidia GPU did not kick in when watching high quality youtube vids and thus they were jolty...
EDIT:: I have tried the Asus latest and Nvidia latest and they both playback 1080 youtube clips joltySo if I keep using the latest nvidia, does this mean optimus is not working and it is not switching between the IGP and ION?
EDIT x 2:: All good I have managed to get it working well. Thanks anyway. -
After playing The Secret World with CPU@2120MHz I have come to the conclusion, that OC'ing the CPU has almost no effect on the game. The desktop reacts more snappier, true, but the game reacts better the higher the GPU is OC'ed. The only problem is, after the GPU crashes once, which happens a lot lately which wasn't before like this, I have to restart the whole pc. Isn't there another way instead of always rebooting the pc? :-(
EDIT: After posting this message, the graphic driver reseted AGAIN... :-((( -
Unrelated Sidenote: My 1215n died last week, the screen started flickering and there was a clicking sound shortly after which it turned off and there was a burning smell, so basically the motherboard is toast. Sad to see it go but it was battered after all the stuff i've put it through over the past 2 years so i'd say it had a good run. Replacing it with the Asus Lamborghini vx6s which is marginally more powerful and a lot more interesting looking. -
im having trouble over clocking my netbook with 8gb ram it keeps crashing even in increments. my ram is Amazon.com: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ: Computers & Accessories
and setfsb shows 405 instead of the usual 407 and 1800.1 is the speed i get when i getFSB instead of i think 1804 -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Eh, sorry to necro this thread. Brother got back from college for a week. He told me that his Netflix and 1080p h264 .mkv videos are playing choppy on the laptop's screen.
I took a look, and noticed that Youtube stutters on 1080p, and any media player to play 1080p h264 (VLC and MPC) do not work either. According to the nVidia indicator icon the ION GPU is not kicking in when running the above videos. I made sure to set the browsers and media players to use ION in settings, but it looks like ION isn't activating at all.
Videos run completely smooth when piping the video to a 1080p TV via HDMI.
I remember a little while back that someone said that ION will not work when using the laptop screen only. Just want to confirm that.
Drivers are 306.23 on Windows 7 HP 32-bit. -

I know bumping is frowned upon, but I'd really like to fix my brother's laptop, or, failing that, give him some options.
-
Same problem here. Windows 8 RTM 64bits, 8Gb ram, ssd hd.
(with windows 7 64bits it's the same problem)
Everytime I play some video (avi, mkv,...) or flash app, the laptop starts to lag until it freezes.
CPU usage goes up to 97%
I thinks it is some kind of driver problem. -
I'd like a copy of the modded BIOS for the 1215n described in this thread.
All links are currently dead.
Thanks a bunch -
Does anyone has access to the drivers in the asus website?
-
