i have found the limits of my system... well at least for running 3dmark 06 stable with out artifacts.

seems 615 on setfsb is the max stable on the cpu, thats 2410mhz. though i can run tasks in windows fine at 2424mhz.

now the gpu i was able to find its limits as well.

seems max stable clocks with out any artifacts is as follows

    GPU - 670
    MEM - 885
    Shaders - 1495

here is the new 3dmark 06 score. also this is with the new beta drivers but it caused no difference in score then with the stock ones. also once again its not showing the right cpu speed as well this test was done at 2410mhz

Anyone experience static when headphones are plugged into the jack? Even if the volume is muted.

Sounds more like an issue with the headphones or with the headphone jack, rather than the laptop itself.

I personally had no issues with static when using headphones.

    Hello,

20fps thats not bad at all, but isn't smooth, tears a lot and kind of jerky sometimes. i'm havin' actually troubles in movies through ION acceleration, kind of slideshow in 720p and 1080p. tried all possible drives, i'm guessing maybe a faulty chip but not quite sure of it, on 3Dmark06 it get's 2561Marks..

youtube movies 1080p plays good, not in fullscreen and 720p youtuve movies either.

i'll take my unit to it's reseller to see if i can trade for other 1215N.

    cumps to everyone,

For uTube make sure you right click on the movie and "allow hardware acceleration" is on. Maybe that's why.

I'm wondering hows the speakers on this. Also how is the sound through headphones for music?

I have the Asus 1215n netbook and i have used setfsb to overclock the d525 cpu from 1.8ghz to 2.1ghz. I have tested it using prime95 for about an hour and it runs stable. However, what confuses me is that the temps of the system and cpu at 1.8ghz is around 60C idle while the temps for 2.1ghz are lower at around 45C idle. Maybe the temp monitors aren't picking this up correctly? I'm using CoreTemp, HWMonitor, Everest Ultimate Edition, and RealTemp.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for all your posts, the information has been very helpful. I am seriously thinking about buying the 1215n, but after hearing mixed signals in regards to gaming I have become a little concerned. I am most interested in play League of Legends on this netbook and am wondering if any 1215n users could report if the game runs or not. Thanks

Your unit is ok, for playing local content try using Media Player Classic Home Cinema or default windows media player. Those play files fine for me.

As for Youtube, I have exact same issues, it seems to be driver problem - flash video is not accelerated by GPU.

HWMonitor 1.16 works just fine, it shows the temperature of ACPI, CPU (Cores), GPU and HDD. You can save the collected informations and see easily the min/max temperature. You have a nice avatar btw ;)

Just installed it to have a look for you, League of Legends works just fine on the Asus 1215N. I was able to play it with Normal details on the native HD resolution (30fps+).

I have an Asus 1215n, and love it. My question has to do with anti-virus protection. I do quite a bit of downloading, and just wondering what are some good ideas about to keep my computer relative virus and problem free. I am going to get Mcafee, (the new version) and run regular virus scans. Is there a better anti-virus program you can recommend or tips?

Hi all! I have installed windows x64 with the latest beta drivers from nvidia. Starcraft has artifact problems and crashes etc like for the rest of you. But i tried the 258.96 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com, (which should resolve the artifact probs), but i still have the same problems. Any ideas?

Another thing, does the RAM go way upp for you guys when playing ie. sc2? Mine is maxed at 1,99gig (of 2gigs available), should it be like that?

    Appreciate some feedback :)

Flash supports Hardware Acceleration. Just right click, go to Settings and on the first small tab make sure Hardware Acceleration is clicked. Hopefully it might help.

Make sure you have the latest Flash plug-in as well.

Yeah i have the same problem. I can run the game for like 1 min before alot of artifacts kick in and later the whole thing crashes. It does this with both nvidias original drivers and with modded drivers :(

Ye, thanks, I'm aware of that =) I also own n330 + ion1 based nettop, there flash works perfectly. So, flash acceleration must be present, but it's not, and, hopefully, it's a driver+flash player issue and will be fixed asap.
The nettop plays 1080 youtube videos flawlessly, 1215n - not =(

its f2 to get into bios. keep spamming it away when you start up your comp.

Btw i succeded with the bios upgrade, the problem was the usb stick, it was to big. And apparently it has to be Fat formated (not fat32).

Thanks, it was F2. I was using an external keyboard, and for some reason my F2 button wasn't working. I was pressing F2 and going crazy to figure it out, but I used the F2 on the netbook and it worked perfectly.

Thank you very much for going to the trouble of installing the game client and testing it for me. I have just ordered a 1215n and am looking forward to it very much. Thanks again.

I'm having this intermittent problem when listening to music. For some reason, the audio drivers cps usage will spike and lock up the computer for a few seconds. I downloaded updated driver from realtek and that's no help.

Also, I had this weird thing where the backlight on my monitor just decided to turn off and I had to restart to computer to get it back on.

And any idea where I can find drivers for the web cam? the white balancing sort of sucks...

I bought the 1215n a couple of days ago from Amazon UK and have a few questions:

    1) I hear the system comes with ION2, but on mine everything just says 'ION', including the device manager and the stickers on the case. Is it the same with everyone or did I get some sort of a crappy UK model with an older gpu?

    2) Has anyone tested their 1215n with Furmark? I've run a benchmark and keep getting low results, around 550 points. Not sure if the dedicated GPU kicks in or not, but running Furmark in 'multiple-GPU' mode yields the same results.

    3) How do I go about updating the GPU to the latest 'unofficial' drivers?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi clyde

    1) ION2 was just a way of classifying the gpu pre-release. Officially it falls under the ION class and as such is listed simply as an ION... If you check GPUz you'll see the specs are of the new card.
There is no way you ended up with the old ION unless you bought the old 1201n.

    2) I only use furmark for temp stress tests but it does work with the ION by default from my experience. But make sure you've specified in the nvidia control panel for it to use the ION just incase.

    3) The latest drivers for this machine are infact "official" so just go to the nvidia site and download the latest beta. Were still waiting on proper drivers atm so theres nothing better out there really.

    Hope that helps ;)

guys try the new bios update i seen a reasonable increase in frame rate in games with it. 3dmark still stays the same but games you see a improvement.. weird.

i did a before and after with resident evil 5

    1280x720
    shadows low
    textures high
    detail medium
    fixed test

    went from 18.9fps to 22.1
the other unfixed test the gains are even larger too.

the game is now silky smooth at 800x600 getting around 30-35fsp with the settings above thats compared to around 25ish before. i can now turn on shadows to medium and still get the frame rate from before which is still playable :)

my guess is that they adjusted something in the PCIE Spread Spectrum to make up for the 1x limitation.

however like i said before 3dmark 06 still comes up with the same score so idk whats going on for real.

I tried the new bios update and it seems to have messed something up. When i now use setfsb to overclock, the system becomes choppy and unusable when the cpu is raised beyond 2ghz. Before i could get it all the way up to 2.3ghz at a push without incident.
Can someone with the new bios try overclocking and report on wether or not they have the same issue. Thanks

Failing that has someone got a copy of the old bios so i can flash back because i foolishly didn't back it up.

If anyone is interested, I heard somewhere that GTA IV and Episodes are now playable on 1215n with the new bios.

If anyone has Furmark installed, could your run it as a benchmark for 60 seconds and tell me how many frames are you getting on average?

Sounds like they may have just done a voltage fix, maybe stabilized the v on the GPU allowing it to work more efficiently, and lowered the voltage on the CPU to give a bit better battery, but also limits over clocking.

Hybrid engine is different and works with the bios to control the processor clocks. In other words when you set performance mode it downclocks the processor to conserve power.

perhaps the asus 1218n will come out by then xD

guys, i have a question- after playing battlefiel 2142 i got kicked by punkbuster and the error code was: Restriction: Multiple direct3d loaded

this is propably because of the two graphic chips which are both running directX, isn't it? if yes- can i stop the minor graphic chip from running anyhow? if not - what shall i change to fix this?

    thank you in advance guys

I'm having a battery issue with my Asus 1215n. When I use it unplugged and using the batter, and then recharges it that works fine and it recharges to 100 percent. When I am using it plugged in though, the battery doesn't register at 100 percent available. It says 97 percent, and lately 95 percent. I understand that just using the battery drains it, but I am losing like 2 percent a week here. Is it really losing battery life or is it just incorrect battery display?

Anyone been able to successfully play Star Craft 2?

Also - is it worth upgrading to 4GB of memory and if any of you have, what did you get?
