Not bad at all... wonder how they're going to perform in the market once it's out. (I'd buy one for my birthday - just for the hell of it. Don't tell me it's not gonna be out by January! =O)

Would it be possible to mod one of the Eees to use a 30gb microdrive instead of the 4g SSD?
-
The Eee has a mini express card slot available near the Ram slot.
-
Yay! About time.
Hmm, there doesn't seem to be any pictures of the bottom. Looks like we'd have to wait until Newegg posts some pics to see if the RAM is upgradeable. -
ASUS released Windows XP driver for EeePC
Someone installed WinXP Sp2 and Office 2003 successfully in EeePC which he bought today.

Yes, you can upgrade yourself. -
For reference.

Wait for it to come out here in the US!! Asus reps have said it will be here November 1st, and an Asus press release said the 8GB SSD/ 1GB RAM version will be USD 400.
-
$300 was really the magic price point. Now, they're just milking their hype and pricing the Eee so it's slightly less expensive than Celeron M/ Vista Basic machines.
-
For <$300, I'm willing to let my expectations slide. But for >=$400, I start expecting things. 10" screen, AT LEAST 1 SD slot, preferably 2. Upgradeable SSD, etc. Upgradeable CPU. *sigh*
-
I'm confused, does it have a PCI Express slot or memory card reader slot?
-
It has a SD card slot.
But damn, it's smaller than an A4 paper. Too bad on the raised price though. -
Software yes, keyboard no (well, you can set it up as a US keyboard but not with the good layout) -
I just went and saw the EEE PC in person. For ~$350 the store had the 4GB/512/webcam model. It also said something about 3.5G? Also, there was a video playing on the display model at the store. The screen looked quite nice for its size. Crisp and clear video playback.
-
yeah price is now $599 here in New Zealand... normally i get things cheaper through my work and was expecting the units cost price to be nice and low so i could get a decent discount. but sigh, they are costing the company a fair bit...
will have to wait for a ex demo one .... -
Do I have to pre-order one of these in US?
-
As of today, I don't think any resellers are offering pre-orders. Maybe we'll see some in a week or two...
-
