im waiting for an increased screen resolution and dual core atom! those are what will really improve the EEE, the optical drive is not a big deal 99% of any task can be done with a usb flash drive and the 1% you cant do can be done with a networked optical drive, or a cheap external one.
You cant so easily navigate around the lack of resolution or cpu power though! Plus David said something about Intel giving rebates for the use of the atom, and adding a optical drive voids it, thus increasing the cost of the unit by a lot (cost of optical drive + loss of rebate)
