I'll call ASUS Australia on monday...has someone used their zero bright dot warranty yet?
How was asus support? How long did they take to fix it?
-
Oh I feel for you, but I have no opinion for you- I'm considering a V6J and am interested in your experience with the machine and the support. What's confusing me is in the last week many of the Oz comp. stores have listed a V6FJ with an ATI X1600 card, while other stores list it with the Nvidia 7400. Meanwhile Asus AU have not yet updated their site.
cheers -
Well I wouldnt be too worried. Its called a "zero bright dot warranty" for one reason or another. Only hastles you will face are shipping and waiting, but surely that will be it.
Look on the bright side, at least ASUS cant screw you out of anything.
I've only dealt with ASUS support once, and that was for a motherboard. They were relatively fast, nothing exceptional, nothing substandard. I believe I got a refurbished motherboard as a replacement, but it worked perfectly, so I have no problems with their service.
However, their verbal customer support is quite annoying. Many of their employees do not speak english well (this was 2 years ago) and can be difficult to deal with. Once you break that barrier you should be alright. -
That's really interesting, maybe they are referring to the Lamborghini model that's to come out later in the year when they list it with the x1600? If not, it would be really nice to have the V6J come out with the x1600 card.
Hang in there Seb! Like Androo said, you should be okay outside of waiting for them to fix your screen. -
Have you tried to massage the bright dot on the LCD at all? Just slightly rubbing it could fix it (no it wont hurt your screen one bit)
-
@dadbilly
the V6J comes with the nvidia 7400 -
Alright, maybe take a microfiber cloth (if you have one) and rub a little harder on it. If that doesn't work, a certian video will work.

Its for stuck pixels, but its worth a shot -
Thx nick, but for the price i've paid that v6j, i fink i'll let asus handle it with their zero bright dot policy...X.X;
Must have been somebody from OT eyeballing/cursing my baby -
One strange thing about this bright dot is that on a white background, it is anormally brighter than its neighbouring pixels, but on a black background, it looks okay. Now, does this qualify as a bright dot? Will ASUS fix it?
-
They cover any kind of pixel defect. although. I have never head of one that is not stuck one color just just a brighter white than the other pixels. how could you possible notice One pixel on a sxga monitor that is the same color as a normal pixel just alittle brighter that seems impossible.
-
Well, on NBR's white background, it really stands out. I wanted to take a pic to show you how badly it looks, but i can't capture it with my camera
-
Are you sure its only one pixel and not more? because on a SXGA its hard enough to see a defective pixel if its even a stuck color. But being one that is the right color thats amazing you can notice. Does it look like its more than one?
-
It is 1 ****in bright pixel which keeps taunting me. I can't stand seeing it X.X;
Oh. I wear photo-chromatic glasses, that's y its easy for me to notice it @.@ -
Just call asus. They are good about the pixel policy. Since its really samsungs policy i believe for their panels. Asus loses nothing.
-
will call
;
-
justin?sasha?any feedback about the zero bright pixel policy? ><; How long do they take to fix the lcd?
-
You looking about a week turn around time.
-
Just be glad you bought the V6... if you bought a W3 or W5 and had a dead pixel, there'd be nothing you could do about it
-
Id be much more pissed if i had a dead pixel on a XGA monitor than a sxga. Really hard to notice on those. But either way its annoying
-
its really annoying now i've noticed that anomally bright pixel ><;
-
Does this count as a bright dot? is it covered by the ZBD warranty?
Hav also found a black dot. but its in the upper left corner x.X;
Why me??? Why my baby?
*CRIES* -
Does it show up on other colours? Or just white?
-
well yes. except black
-
Well... I'm sure it qualifies for ZBD exchange then.
No worries, Asus will take care of you. -
this is from asus policy - "ASUS is the first to stand out and make a promise to users worldwide that guarantees LCD panels with zero bright dots in four notebook models, including the W1, W2, V6 and M6 series. Even if only one bright dot is found, a free panel exchange is guaranteed within 30 days of original purchase! "

I believe its actually a samsung thing. Samsung is the one that came out with the bright dot policy maybe asus is just using the samsung panels in these models so they cover the warranty so asus doesnt care.
-
Is the V6 lcd panel standard, i mean do the v6v and the v6j use the same lcd? excluding the v6va of course.
-
NO the v6v is matte the V6J is glossy.
-
OIC. Asus Melbourne doesnt have the glossy lcd in stock. They bounced me to another asus service centre and those suckers there are not picking up the fone
;;;
I'm freaking out x.x -
Did you call after hours or during lunch maybe?
Dont freak out they will order the part for you if they need to. -
I called at 10:00 morning... lazy bastards <<;
-
My condolences....I know how it feels to buy a brand new expensive product only to find a "major" defect (to me).
I'm sure ASUS will fix the problem. -
I wouldnt call 1 irregular pixel a major defect.
-
i've just sent in my v6j one week ago because of one death pixel. hope to get it back by tomorrow finally...
but what do you think about the display in general? i found the colors very strange, somehow washed out, like they say in the italian review too:
http://www.hwupgrade.it/articoli/portatili/1426/4.html
i achieved a better result tweaking the colors with the nvidia control panel, but still, the viewing angel is so small that i'm thinking about buying a standalone lcd for home use.
...hope the new one will be better -
My experience with ASUS australia is
They keep bouncing me to other ASUS service centres. There's one service centre which will have a look at it, but i have to go there and since am a complete stranger in a new country, i dunt have a clue where's they are and they wouldnt even organise pickup service for meI've spent AUD$30 on phonecalls already and getting nowhere. Grrrrrrr. I'm pissed
-
I've just noticed that a portion of my screen garbles or freezes for a second and then gets back to normal. This happens so quickly that the first time i didnt notice it. But it happened twice today
Any idea what's causing this "garble"? Has anyone come across this glitch?
I'm starting to think that my V6J hates me -
Prob just a software glitch video drivers or something.
-
or hardware O.O;
ASUS Australia is no helpLazy bastards
I've begged, threatened, and even told them am reviewing their product, but they basically told me to **** off
I want my money back
*cries* -
I wonder what it is.. -
Have you contacted ASUS Canaduh about dat? -
Nah... I don't find it TOO serious. It happens only once in a while... doesn't really bother me, but I do notice it when it happens.
Eeeeek a bright dot on my V6J LCD
