Hello everyone and thanks for the great forum. This is my first post, it concerns removing software and/or programs that were factory installed. I have a K52 laptop which performs great, as well as two ASUS tablets.
My issue is that I hate touchpads, and lately the Elan Touchpad that came with my lappy re-appears at will. I've tried everything I can think of, delete, uninstall, reinstall, disable, shred, remove from registry, disabled drivers, etc, and a day or two later it's back! Just when I think I've removed anything Elan from any directory or folder, cleaned the registry, configured the startup menu, etc, Elan returns. Help!

When you reboot Windows, it will see it as a new device after you've uninstalled and deleted that data, and will reinstall the drivers and data automatically. If you want it disabled at least, you can visit Device Manager, right click on the touchpad, and click on "Disable"

Or just use the hotkeys available to lock the trackpad, if there are any. :)

Been there, done that, but it does work, at least till your next reboot. It's running off the PS/2 port, and just like you said, the system sees it as a new device and installs it again. What a scream.

Thanks very much for the info, I'll look into the hotkey procedure.

    Have a good one.
