I have an Asus serie M6800 notebook.
Sometimes my notebook is believed by Windows Xp to be without battery while it is really alimented by the battery only, so my notebook spares more energy when it has the battery inserted.
Furthermore, it happens that suddenly WinXp recognize the battery in my notebook and load the options configured to save energy.
During a work session, WinXp "changes idea" about the presence of my battery many times.
    Is it a normal situation?
Do you believe bringing back my notebook to Asus helpdesk is a good idea?

    Thanks to everybody.

    Claudio

Do you have the notebook plugged in to mains power as well?
If so perhaps the connection for the mains power is a bit screwy. Try running off main only (ie remove the battery), if your notebook shuts down then you have a problem and I would get it replaced.

No. The problem occurs when my notebook is not plugged to the mains power but it is only powered by the battery.
