which one is better in the long run? it seems Ensembles have 1 year on battery, then 1 year international warranty, and additional ones are NA only? what happens after that support wise? in comparison to say Built ons.. which are based on a store.. but assuming the store has been in the business long (say G2p, PN or PP) would they offer far longer support?

i find that built-ons end up having better support if you buy from the right reseller. i say this b/c i hear that asus customer support can be a bit difficult to work with. if you get customer support through one of the resellers mentioned above, they are quite knowledgeable, and you may end up getting a better turnaround time for your notebook, if you have to send it in to be serviced. i don't know about asus warranty, but i like how reseller warranties often include shipping to them. i remember when i had to get my prostar (clevo) serviced several times....i payed more for shipping than i did for the actual 3-year warranty.

ejl is correct, some dealers, such as ProPortable. Geared2Play, MileStonePC and c9Tech will have customer service which is second to none.

ASUS's service isn't bad, though not the best, nor the worse - depends who you get on the other line of course.
