I have my nephews Evesham ASUS A6J Notebook PC Intel Core Duo Processor...... it has stopped working and will not boot up,

    When connecting to mains power........

    1. The battery indicator (orange) light comes on and goes out.
    2. The Power indicator (green) light comes on and goes out after 3 secs.
    3. The fan switches on and goes off straight as for power on.

Could this be a processor problem or power pack / battery problem?

Any suggestions / recommendations would be most appreciated a lot of college work is on the hard drive………… :(

It seems it could be anyhing. If the notebook doesn't start, it is possible it could be a motherboard or processer problem. Make sure that the battery is connected, and that the terminals are cleanly making contact with the pins on the notebook. I don't think this is the problem, from what you have described, but it may help. If the notebook is under warranty, then give Evesham a call, and see if they will repair it.
