Hi I am curious and I understand this is a lame question but I have no knowledge of the tech not to mention its market, I am about to replace my original GPU for my laptop G73SW, which I broke in a moment of anger with a punch.

Now I know that this is a silly thread and I was ignored on numbers of forums before, but please understand that I am genuinely a dummy dumm dumm when it comes to PC's and I have no clue how to proceed on this.

Here's the detailed story (skip if you want):
I had some artefacts coming up on my games every now and then with game crashes and information that the drivers stopped working. It required a BIOS battery restart to get it back to normal, Over the time it happened more and more often.
One particular morning I was angry and I slammed my fist against the keyboard of th laptop, after a few tries and fixes it eventually came back on but with graphics chequered on the screen even ever since I press the start up button.

I an guessing from many YT vids (some scientis iam :p) that I broke the GPU core, and it has to be either replaced or 'Baked'(which may or may not come with additional issues leater).

Ti fix this with least possible risk( since iam low on budget). I want to buy a new graphics card.

    Now the question is:
Shdould I buy the new GU froma more reputable country for a price of roughly 150 Euro
    or
From China for the very very attractive price of 50 Eruo with shipping ;p

Now If I understand correctly US and EU supliers get their stock mainly from china anyways, but I feel that asus is putting good stuff in their products not only the ones that are made with 'slave labour'.

So I am in a pickle should I not risk and get the more expensive card or will the cheap one come up with same(but really now same :p) results.

I know its an old laptop, but it still runs the new games with low settings and I cant really afford a better one in my current situation, so please if you have any knowledge or experience with these kinda purcharses, would you please please help me out.

    The GPU is 460m
Here are the example of what I found on the internet:

    China 50 Euro:

Or the more expensive one roughly 150 Euro from different sources ( I know this one is used but I remember I seen some new ones too before:
    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/For-ASUS-G73...137156?hash=item1c5ff77504:g:taEAAOSwa-dWnV~j

    Again sorry for long post.
And I understand that this may appear as troll question but believe me its not.

Please if you know anything about this stuff any help or comment would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Pittie

You can bake the card back to life if that's what you want, BUT keep in mind that it WILL die shortly after again. It's not worth baking/Heatgunning a notebook that you play on. Also if you plan on baking it, I'd suggest you ask someone who has experience how to do it, since you do need to do a couple of things. You Cannot simply shove it into the oven and heat it up, then you will kill it completely.

You killed the graphicscard by impact. When the card was warm again and you slammed your hands on the notebook, the solder inside the chip got pushed even further away from the solderpoints. Also I would strongly recommend not punching your notebook ever again, harddisks are also very sensitive to vibrations, meaning if you keep letting your anger our, you can kill the harddisk as well and maybe even loosen up some connections, which will make you have to open the whole thing to fix it, and trust me, that notebook is not fun to open.

You can buy from whatever place you want, but keep in mind that if you import the item, then you have to lookup for tax rules in your country and when they apply. I would still go for china tho, since even if you pay taxes for the item, it will be WAY cheaper than buying it from the US.

Also I would buy this instead:
    klick

I think this would make you way happier.

Thank you very much for all your advices :) They were very important and I'd never guess to think of many of them on my own :)

I couldn't find out the exact specifications of the card from Chinese so I bought blind a different version of 560m with 3gb since I found a few ppl on the internet saying it has better bandwitch and rop's than 2gb version.

I haven't installed it yet because I ran out of my thermal paste and also I am uncertain about how to proceed with heating ;p I again thought ill create a separate thread for that since I ask some question about cooling I couldn't find answers to anywhere so I thought it may help some other ppl aswell.

Thank you again for all the help, I wouldn't get this far without you :)
