I have a pair of Logitech Z-2300 speakers that I plug into my A8Js. It was working fine until just now, I unplugged the cable of the speakers from the laptop to test another computer. After I plugged it back into the laptop, the sound now comes through from the internal speakers, the external speakers don't work anymore???

Anyone know what is the problem? I didn't change anything else.

p.s. It took me a couple tries at first to get the external speakers working when I was setting it up.

Reboot...sometimes these laptops won't use it unless it is plugged in at boot time.

Another idea: Start->Control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices->Audio->Change the default playback device

I tried restart a couple times, didn't help.

The device right now is "soundmax hd audio 0", and the other one is "modem #0 line playback", which is the modem I guess.

This is strange. Any chance I smoked the speaker port?

If the speakers connect via USB then you have to exit the application and restart it to get sound out of them -the drivers for the speakers have to be loaded before you try to use them.

If the speakers just plug into the head phone jack then make sure you are plugging them in all the way. Also go to Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices and make sure that the sound hasn't been muted (click on the Advanced button to get to all the audio level controls).
